List of Active Petroleum Service Contracts
The Philippine Government, ubder Section 4 of Presidential Decree (PD) No. 87, also known as the "Oil Exploration and Development Act of 1972, is mandated through the DOE to promote and undertake exploration, development, and production of the country's indigenous petroleum resources through the awaring of Petroleum Service COntracts (PSCs).
DOE currently supervises and monitors 16 activePSCs (as shown in Table 1) to ensure that the respective work commitments under the exploration ansproduction stages of the PSCs are fully implemented. As of 31 December 2024, four (4) out of 16 PSCs are in production stage of the PSCs, while 12 PSCs are in the exploration phase.
Investment Opportunities
Figure 3 shows the sedimentarybasins of the Philippines for exploring and developing indigenous petroleum resources. In 2002, the Philippine Petroleum Resource Assesment Project (PHILPRA) provided a map identifyingand categorizing 16 areas according to their potential, green indicatesthe most prospective basins, yellow is considered prospective but underexplored, and red shows the frontier basins.
